BEALLSVILLE - The mother of a child with cerebral palsy whose quad was stolen is hoping that the thieves will have a change of heart and bring back her daughter's pride and joy.


Nikia Kelley said her 8-year-old daughter, Victoria Molnar, 'loves riding her quad.' The red quad, an Eton RXL 50, helps her hands and stretches her hips, helping her deal with her disease, Kelley said.

Cerebral palsy describes a group of chronic disorders caused by faulty development of or damage to motor areas in the brain that disrupt the brain's ability to control movement and posture.

The quad was just one of several items stolen during a burglary late Monday from Kelley's Acres, a suburban retreat off Route 40, but was the only one not insured. Kelley said her daughter is involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which fulfills the dreams of children with life-threatening conditions. Among the other stolen items was a computer with numerous pictures of Tori and others on a March Make-A-Wish trip to Florida.

In addition to the four-wheeler, the thieves stole the girl's matching red and black helmet. Kelley said her daughter told her that now 'all she has left is a chest protector.'

Kelley said Victoria's late father was a motocross champion, and family members were so happy when the girl wanted to get the quad that they bought numerous accessories for her.
