MAINE COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOLLaptops reported stolen from Farmington schoolFARMINGTON -- Police are looking for leads in the burglary and theft of laptop computers from the Mt. Blue Middle School on Middle Street that occurred sometime over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday.
Three Apple IBooks in their black zipper cases were stolen from a classroom, although there were other similar computers stored in the same location, said Farmington police Officer Ed Hastings.
The theft was discovered Wednesday morning by teacher Chris Brinkman, who directs the school's computer technology program.
Hastings said there was no forced entry but the intruders entered through an unlocked 7th grade classroom window. "They slid it open and climbed in."
"We are asking the community for help finding these computers. They are of no use to anyone since you have to have a password to use them and they can't be used to get on the Internet," Hastings said.
Each laptop is valued at $1,000. Police retrieved evidence at the scene, but are asking anyone with information to call the department at 778-6311. Anonymous information will be accepted.
