Partners in Literacy of Central Louisiana moved into new offices a year ago.

Director Darlene Dorsey, who has been at the helm for six years, says some time Sunday night or early Monday morning, thieves broke a window in the building and made off with two computers, two printers, a new D-V-D player that was to help tutors and a microwave oven that was used frequently.

Since Partners in Literacy set up shop in 1989, Dorsey says an estimated 900 to one-thousand people have passed through its doors to get a better grip on how to read and write.

Dorsey says she will "appeal to the community" for donations to replace the lost equipment
