KMBC's Peggy Breit reported that some thieves broke into Boone Elementary and stole $3,800 worth of equipment, including three computers, two digital cameras, candy and soda pop.

Construction crews have been remodeling the building, and officials believe the culprits may have entered the school by climbing up scaffolding and breaking into a window on the roof, Breit reported. Some classroom doors were also damaged.

The break-in did not interrupt the students' schedule, officials said."
