ILLINOIS COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOL Keokuk's Gate City Daily Online Multiple items stolen in school break-in by diane vance /gate city staff writerWednesday, January 4, 2006 5:03 PM CST
WARSAW, Ill. - Warsaw School District had a break-in over the holidays last week when there was no school.

Junior high/high school Principal Tom Bertucci said items worth a substantial amount of money were taken. No doors or windows were broken and he doesn't know how entry was gained.

Superintendent Kim Schilson said the Warsaw Police Department is conducting an investigation.

“Nothing was damaged or vandalized,” said Schilson. “Some things were taken.”

She did not want to discuss the break-in any further but said the police could give more information.

Warsaw Police Chief Brandon Norris said it is an ongoing investigation.

“We're not sure how they gained entry, there was no forced entry,” he said. “Numerous laptop computers and some overhead projectors were taken. We think it would have taken a couple of people to do this job and it was probably in the evening. We have no leads at this time. We're still getting a list of items missing from the school.”

Norris asked the public to contact the Warsaw Police Department at 217-256-3111 with any information.

The laptops are Acer brand. Schilson did not believe theft of the computers compromised any grades or files of the district.
