NEW YORK NAMC INVESTORS CORNER: ABSOLUTE SOFTWARE STOPPING COMPUTER THIEVES IN THEIR TRACKS NAMC Newswire - NAMC Investors Corner: Stopping Computer Thieves in their tracks is what a Toronto based company aim NAMC Investors Corner: Stopping Computer Thieves in their tracks is what a Toronto based company aim

NEW YORK, NY, (NAMC) - Absolute Software (TSX: ABT.TO - Profile) provides laptop and PC owners with the “Laptop LoJack” , it’s a system that is embedded in the Bios of laptops that would allow tracking in the event that it is stolen.

Their laptop security and tracking software, called Computrace, deters laptop theft and recovers stolen computers – guaranteed. Absolute also provides software inventory, computer inventory, PC inventory, PC audits, IT asset management, asset tracking, software license management, and data security tools and services.

Now that is a mouthful.

Their software can also be used to track mobile assets, so essentially if your mobile unit has a computer operating system then Absolute can be an asset to monitoring it.

At this point computer manufacturers such as Dell and Gateway are using their software, and there is little doubt that this will become the norm as they enhance their product.

The company has great potential, with more people , not just business people, but people in general traveling and bring their laptops with them on the road, Absolute Software’s technology is definitely a safeguard against theft.

And it can happen to the best of us, recently music star Marc Anthony and his wife Jennifer Lopez were victims of an extortion plot that involved a laptop that was stolen. If that laptop had Computrace embedded in the Bios then the criminals could have been apprehended or at the very least pinpointed to an exact location.

At this point Absolute’s technology only works if the laptop is used to access the Internet, now it is estimated that over 80% of the laptops that are stolen are used to go online. It’s only a matter of time before they develop technology that allows a stolen laptop to be tracked whether the laptop is used to access the Internet or not.

At the helm of Absolute is it’s CEO John Livingston, he has been with the company since 1995 and was instrumental in growing the company to an 85-person operation. He has brought the company from Idea to Implementation, from financing to making it a publicly traded entity. So his ability is not in question.

We will try to schedule an interview with John Livingston in the coming weeks.

This stock is a low flyer at $3.65 today, trades light volume and this due in part to where it trades. If this stock traded on the NASDAQ then it would be a $10 number today.

They are sure to be showcased a the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, so this would give company the added exposure that they need.

We will continue to report on Absolute Software.
