String of Burglaries in Northumberland County

Nearly a half dozen businesses have been broken into in Northumberland County this week. The crime spree now has store owners changing the way they protect their property.
John Smerlick's North Point Auto is on a busy section of Route 11 near Danville. It was targeted by burglars early Friday morning.
"I know when you get a phone call at 4 a.m., it's not good. The 911 dispatch said my office had been broken into," Smerlick said.
It's the third time in four years that burglars have damaged his business. Each time he's increased security at the place.
"My alarm system kind of helped me out this time. I think the next time, very soon we're going to be putting in a video surveillance system," Smerlick added.
In the same county, 20 miles away, troopers said burglars hit Terry's Auto Body in Turbotville not once, but twice this week. Friday morning burglars made off with the brand new office computer system, bought to replace the computer stolen earlier in the week.
