UK COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOL The Daily Record - NEWS - CAUGHT O ON THE SHOP 3 January 2006
CAUGHT O ON THE SHOP
7 thieves are charged thanks to the Police are on the trail of another 10 crooks
By Derek Alexander
SEVEN people have been charged after a Daily Record stolen goods sting, it was revealed yesterday.
And 10 more are still being investigated over the alleged sale of stolen goods to the bogus shop set upby our investigators.
When we set up the shop, offering to buy and sell household items, we were indundated with crooks peddling their wares. We passed on information to the police after our operation in June. And a number of the items sold to us have been returned to their rightful owners.
Police said yesterday that four men and two women aged 20 to 30 have been reported to the Glasgow fiscal, charged with theft, reset and other offences.
An 18-year-old youth has also been reported to the fiscal in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, charged with breaking into a primary school and stealing computers which a crook sold to our reporter.
Cocaine Police launched their own probe after the Record unmasked 28 criminals in27days of tradingatthe Barras market, Glasgow.

We recovered 122 stolen items valued at more than £8600 and were also offered cocaine by criminals who came into the bogus shop.
The haul of goods came from innocent Scots' homes, cars, offices and businesses.
Many of the crooks accepted ultra-low prices for the stolen goods they had to offer. One took just £150 for camera equipment worth more than £1500.
Police managed to identify suspects after we used hidden cameras and microphones to record their words and actions.
Our bogus second-hand store was called Daley's Deals - after spiv Arthur Daley from TV's Minder Weevenhadcheeky posters with the slogan: "We pay Record cash".
And dodgy characters were still keen to sell us stolen goods, despite signs which warned them they were being recorded on CCTV.
Two laptop computers stolen from Woodside Primary in Hamilton are among the items sold to us which have been handed back.
The Record investigation was similar to the Operation Caesar sting operated by Strathclyde Police 10 years ago, which nailed more than 100 thieves and drug dealers.
Our Little Shop of Horrors drew praise from Justice Minister Cathy Jamieson, who said: "The Record has done well"These people are parasites on their own communities. It is the under-privileged and less well-off who suffer most."
Many of the serial thieves we encountered seemed proud of their "profession".
One boasted: "I can steal anything. This is my career."
Another brandished an electrical goods catalogue and bragged: "Pick anything you want in there and I'll get it for you."
And a fourth complained his new trainers were worn out from all the running away he does.
A police spokeswoman said yesterday: "Four men and two women aged between 20 and 30 have been reported to the Glasgow fiscal.
"An 18-year-old male has been reported to the Hamilton fiscal. Our inquiries are continuing
