Burglary Ring Linked To Drugs
Six Arrested And Charged With Theft
El Paso County Sheriff Deputies and Colorado Springs Police say they have broken up a "prolific" burglary ring. Investigators say they were tipped off by an informant who said that a group calling themselves "the ring" were led by Victoria Jamerson who usually pre-selected the targets by making up an excuse for entering. While inside the businesses she would then check for video surveillance capabilities. If there were no security cameras she would unlock a window or back door before leaving the business set up for her team to enter after closing.
Investigators, including officers from the Colorado Springs Tactical Enforcement Unit, recovered stolen merchandise while executing search warrants at:
534 Prospect Lake Street
523 South Hancock Avenue
2910 East Bijou #2B
and 2175 King Street #B.
Arrested were:
Thirty-nine year old Victoria Rose Jamerson
Twenty year old Clinton Jamerson
Nineteen year old Matthew Tafoya
Nineteen year old Rachael Lynn Bakhtiar
Nineteen year old Mark Smith
And Twenty-four year old Reuben Locks.
Detectives say the group has stolen thousands of dollars worth of electronics, computers, credit cards, cash and mobile telephones and sold or traded the stolen goods to get money for drugs.
Sheriff Terry Maketa commented, "I applaud the great amount of time and effort put into making these arrests. Without tenacity and attention to detail this group of thieves would still be victimizing our community."
Colorado Springs Police and El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies were joined by the Palmer Lake Marshall's office in the investigation. All three agencies were investigating burglaries that are tied to the ring.
All of those arrested were charged with theft and related offenses and are expected to be released on bond pending trial.
