Students accused of laptop computer theft

Three juveniles are facing grand theft charges after admitting to stealing laptop computers from Pleasant View Elementary School.
Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff's Department responded to the school, at 14004 Road 184 in Porterville, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and were told four Gateway laptop computers were stolen between Feb. 26 and Thursday.
The loss was estimated at $4,800, with each computer valued at $1,200.
During the investigation, three male juveniles were reportedly identified as suspects and were brought to the Sheriff's Department for questioning.
All three juveniles admitted to the theft during questioning, the Sheriff's Department reports.
Three of the computers were recovered. One computer remained missing Thursday.
All three juveniles were released to their parents and will be charged with grand theft, the Sheriff's Department reports. The department's South End Investigations Unit is continuing the investigation.
