By Times-Journal StaffThere are only eight in the world and, now, one of them has been reported stolen.
A rare bass guitar was reported stolen from a home on Glencolin Line, east of Hacienda Road, some time between 2:45 p.m. on March 7 and 12:30 a.m. on March 8.
Alcohol and computer equipment were reported stolen, along with the rare Hagstrom bass valued at more than $7,000. Total loss is estimated at more than $32,000.
The Hagstrom is described as grey with a dark neck and the word “Hagstrom” written in white lettering along the body of the guitar.
It’s believed Hagstrom made very few grey electric basses between 1962 and 1964 when it rolled out about 3,300 units as Hagstroms and Kents.
Originally a manufacturer of piano accordions, the Swedish company began making electric guitars, basses and amplifiers in 1957, mainly for the British and European markets. It stopped making them in 1981.
OPP believe a large vehicle was used to remove items from the home.
