Johannesburg - Three security guards, alleged to have stolen computers from an office they were guarding, appeared in Benoni Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, said East Rand police.
The three, who face charges of burglary, perjury and defeating the ends of justice, were remanded for seven days to allow for further investigations, said police spokesperson Eugene Opperman.
The computers allegedly were found at the homes of the three security guards on Monday - the day of their arrest.
The computers valued at R60 000 were stolen during the weekend at the offices of the department of social development in Benoni - where the three guards were on duty .
Opperman said: "The guards alleged they had been attacked by four armed men.
"They claimed the attackers had broken a window to gain access to the building where they stole several computers."
