CALIFORNIA POLICE LOOK TO RETURN RECOVERED STOLEN COMPUTERS TO PROPER OWNERS News - Sheriff's Department seeks to return stolen property - sacbee.com

Sheriff's Department seeks to return stolen property

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is looking to return recovered stolen property to their rightful owners, according to a Friday news release.

The items include lawn care equipment, computers, audio equipment and construction tools.

Detectives served a search warrant at a South Sacramento storage facility on Sept. 11 and recovered the items. Some were identified and returned to their owners, but detectives say they want to provide other victims the opportunity to claim their stolen goods.

To claim the items, residents must have been the victim of a crime where property was taken, such as a theft, burglary, embezzlement or robbery. The crime must have occurred before Sept. 11, and the victims must have reported the crime to a law enforcement agency.

Victims must also be able to produce identification, proof that the recovered items belong to them and a copy of their crime report.

Those wishing to make a claim can go to the department's Florin Station at 7000 65th St., in Sacramento from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For more information, contact the Sheriff's Department Florin Service Center at (916) 874-8316 or (916) 874-8309.
