High school damaged and computers stolen
PLAINFIELD: Five
Police initially received an alarm call from the Park Avenue school at 12:18 a.m., said city Public Safety Director Martin Hellwig. Officers arrived and didn't see any forced entry. A school security team patrolling outside didn't report any problems, Hellwig said.
Officers discovered 14 doors to offices and classrooms on the school's second, third and fourth floors had been either broken into or vandalized, including windows smashed, Hellwig said. In all, three laptops and two desk top
The school's first floor is equipped with a motion sensor, but it was not tripped. Hellwig said he believed whoever broke in "has knowledge of the building."
Police are investigating.
