DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ―
Police in Dallas are looking for the thieves who stole Christmas from an elderly couple.
The thieves broke into the family's Oak Cliff home and took all the gifts that were underneath the Christmas tree.
Police say the crime should be a reminder that the holiday season can be inviting to thieves.
Despite losing everything the couple told CBS 11 News they won't let what happened ruin their Christmas.
Henrietta Mason-Vinson came home from the doctor in tears. Her Christmas tree was still standing but all the gifts underneath it were gone. "That's all they took out of here," she says.
Henrietta and her husband had their house ransacked by burglars Monday afternoon. Thieves ripped electronics out of the wall, stole computers and even took the holiday packages that were waiting to be opened on Christmas day.
"You hear about this everyday - people going in taking something that don't belong to them," Henrietta said fighting back emotions. "It hurts my heart. It makes me tear up."
The 70-year-old woman says the unopened gift from her son in Japan is what she misses most.
As crime scene investigators tried to lift fingerprints from the walls and windows, the elderly couple tried to make sense of a heartless crime. "Whoever did this I pray that they'll have a happy Christmas."
A neighbor reported seeing two men driving away from the house during the time of the burglary but that's about all the information police have to work with.
