Carrousel burglary arrest made
A North Tonawanda youth was arrested Wednesday in connection to both recent Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum burglaries.
James Jackson, 16, of 350 Payne Ave., was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession ofstolen property. Jackson confessed to committing the crimes, according to North Tonawanda Lt. Tom Krantz. Jackson was arraigned Thursday and held in lieu of $3,000 bail.
Police received several tips that connected Jackson to both burglaries, Krantz said. The computer stolen from the museum was retrieved, but the stolen money was spent. Other youths may be involved in the case, Krantz said.
“We’re thankful for the community’s help,” Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum Director Vicki Prager said. “And thanks to the police department’s hard work, bringing the case to a quick close.”
