VIRGINIA COMPUTER STOLEN Times Community Newspapers - Police briefs: strative problems caused by the burglary.
Burglary at Long View Gallery
Several expensive items were stolen from the Long View Gallery during the evening of Nov. 28. The owners of the gallery, which is located on Main Street in Sperryville, were not home during the incident.
The person or persons responsible for the crime seem to have gained entry to the building by removing an air-conditioning unit from a ground-floor window, Rappahannock County Sheriff Larry Sherertz said.
Long View's owners Andrew Haley and Suzanne Zylonis were away from the property between 6 and 10 p.m. during the day of the incident, Haley said. They returned from a party to find that things were missing from the art gallery.
A Dell laptop computer, two paintings, some jewelry and some tools were taken during the burglary, Haley said. He estimated the value of the items at about $10,000.
The true damage of the crime would have been much greater had Haley and Zylonis not had an online backup for the data on the stolen computer. Haley said that precaution greatly minimized the administrative problems caused by the burglary.
The couple have owned the art gallery and framing business for seven years. This is the first burglary that has occurred there since they bought it.
