Teen arrested in computer burglary

A citizen tip led Madison police to make an arrest in the burglary of $30,000 of computers from a business on Madison's east side.
The 16-year-old male suspect has tentatively been charged with burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, underaged person possessing/consuming alcohol off licensed premises, operating without a valid driver's license and having intoxicants in a vehicle.
The Blue Net Burglary Task Force, made up of detectives from several local law enforcement agencies, found out about the suspect when a citizen called in with his name. Madison police stopped the 16-year-old male suspect about 2 a.m., driving near the intersection of Northport and Troy drives.
Police found some of the computers stolen from Byte Size Solutions, 4690 Cottage Grove Road, in the trunk of the suspect's car.
Two suspects are believed to have taken part in the burglary of the business, which happened early Sunday morning. The suspects gained entry by smashing a glass paned entry door with a large rock and were able to get away when a motion burglar alarm malfunctioned.
Since some of the stolen computers were not recovered, investigators are asking anyone who might have purchased computer equipment from a private party the past few days to call Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
