Seven laptop computers stolen from council offices
Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to about the theft of seven laptops from council offices, Yourmaidstone reports.
The Dell laptops were stolen from the electoral registration office, a secure area in Maidstone council’s new headquarters at Maidstone House in King Street.
The break-in is believed to of happened between 5pm and 5.25pm last Thursday.
Police have released two images of a man they would like to speak regarding the theft.
He was described as white, in his 40s, tall, with greying hair, wearing smart clothing and carrying a bag reflective strip.
A council spokeswoman said: “The laptops contained no electoral registration information, and no personal information about any member of the public, and no confidential information of any type.
“The laptops were used to access a network and all information was securely stored on the network server – NOT the laptops.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Maidstone on 01622 690055 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
