2 linked to Newark residential burglaries
One Newark man has been charged and another is wanted in connection with several recent residential burglaries in the city.
The two men allegedly burglarized three homes, stealing computer equipment, jewelry and other electronics, according to Newark police.
James Smallwood, 20, of the 100 block of Greenbridge Drive, was charged with two counts of felony theft, three counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree conspiracy and two counts of criminal mischief, Newark police spokesman Lt. Brian Henry said in a news release. He was released on $18,000 bond.
Timothy Robinson, 19, of the 1000 block of Christiana Mill Drive, is being sought on the same charges.
The men were identified as suspects after the stolen property was found at a pawn shop, Henry said. Police found more of the stolen goods at Smallwood’s home.
On May 18, the pair allegedly broke into a home in the first block of Westfied Drive in Newark, where they entered through an unlocked sliding-glass door and stole computer equipment and jewelry, according to police.
On May 26, the men reportedly entered a home in the 1300 building of Christiana Mill Apartments by forcing a window open, according to police. They then allegedly stole computer equipment.
Again on May 26, the men allegedly entered a home in the 400 building of Christiana Mill apartments by breaking a window, according to police. They then allegedly stole computer equipment, jewelry and video game systems.
