Lafayette police are searching for a man they believe stole 16 laptop computers from Teurlings Catholic High School.
The laptops were stolen between June 5 and June 10, police spokesman Cpl. Randal Leger said. No one was at the school during those days, so a specific date of the crime is unknown.
Because of evidence collected at the scene, police have determined that suspect 45-year-old John Dexter LeBlanc Jr. might be responsible, police spokesman Cpl. Randal Leger said.
Anyone with information about LeBlanc's whereabouts are asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
It is the third in a string of crimes at area high schools in recent weeks.
The weekend of May 31, vandals went on a joyride on a forklift, drove through a fence and damaged the track surface at Northside High School.
On June 9, thieves stole about $3,000 worth of electronics from Northside, including two laptops and a computer monitor. Despite the proximity of Northside and Teurlings and the similarity of the crimes, Leger said there is no evidence that the two burglaries are related.
The same week as the theft at Northside, vandals broke the jaw on the 40-year-old lion statute that guards Lafayette High School.
There are currently no suspects in the Northside and Lafayette High cases.
