MORE than 20 computers have been stolen from primary and secondary schools in South and Central Trinidad within the past month.

According to a police report, thieves broke into the library of the Siparia East Senior Comprehensive School and escaped with eight computers.

No suspects have been identified, police said. At around 7 a.m. on Monday, security officers found the door to the library broken and the computers gone.

The Dell computers are worth more than $45,000. Constable Prince is investigating.

At the Rochard Primary School in Penal, thieves broke in over the weekend and stole $500 and keys, police said.

Police are still to solve the theft of nine computers taken from the Dow Village Primary School in California, Couva, last month.

Also taken during the weekend burglary were printing paper, boxes of chalk and fans.

A month ago, thieves made off with three laptop computers and a projector valued at $45,000 from the Tabaquite Composite School. The computers were locked in the school's computer lab.

That case is also unsolved.
