NEW HARTFORD —
A New Hartford man is facing grand larceny charges this week after allegedly stealing a laptop from the basement of Butler Hall, the New Hartford Police Department said.
The Dell Notebook computer, valued at $1,200, belonged to an independent contractor and was stolen from a conference room at about 1 p.m. while the owner was at lunch, police said.
Police who conducted an area check located Gary Hopping, 54, of New Hartford behind the nearby Bank of America. The missing computer was located in Hopping’s possession, police said.
Hopping was arraigned on fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, and will appear in court Wednesday to answer the charges, police said.
