Florence police seek information on attempted theft
Modified: Monday, Jul 20th, 2009
On 07-20-09 around 1:30 pm a male subject went to the Florence Business Center at 1525 W. 12th Street and asked to use the phone. This individual was permitted access into an unsecured area of the office to use the phone. It was discovered the request to use the phone was a ruse to gain access to the office area itself as he began to remove a personal computer from the office. When interrupted and confronted by an employee the suspect denied unplugging and boxing the computer for removal. The subject left prior to the officer’s arrival and no loss occurred.
The male is described as a white male adult, in his late-20’s or early-30’s, slender build, and dirty blond hair. He was last seen wearing a sweater and blue jeans. He was last seen leaving in a small hatchback automobile described as a small forest green vehicle with a small golden colored stripe along the hood fender and door. The suspect was not the driver of this vehicle.
Officer Siewell said, “We don’t want to lose our small town atmosphere here in Florence, but we all need to be cautious with strangers, whether at work or at home.” The Florence Police Department is requesting anyone with information on this suspect, vehicle, or the driver of the suspect vehicle in this AttemptTheft II incident to call 997-3515. For further information, please contact Officer Tom Siewell.
