Reward offered for arrest of gun thief
Free Press Staff Report • July 30, 2009
Burlington police posted a “substantial cash reward” and were searching for a man Wednesday evening they said stole three loaded firearms from a city residence earlier in the day.
The weapons were two handguns and a rifle, police said. The suspect also stole two laptop computers, an iPod and a Wii game system from the Maple Street home, authorities said.
After the burglary, the suspect rode away on a bicycle with the stolen items in a blue laundry bag. Police described the suspect as a white man wearing plaid shorts and a white T-shirt.
The reward — police did not specify an amount — is offered for information that results in the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects, or the return of the firearms. Anyone with information is asked to call Burlington police at 658-2700 or Champlain Valley Crime Stoppers at 864-6666.
