3 arrested in school burglary
The Elkader police, after a five-month investigation, obtained arrest warrants for the men who are accused of stealing several laptop computers from the Central Community School.
Charged with third-degree burglary were 18-year-old Derek Leuchtenmacher and 19-year-old Donald Maker. Leuchtenmacher was also charged with resisting arrest and possession of stolen property after police discovered merchandise stolen from a retailer in his home.
Maker was also charged with theft for allegedly stealing the property.
A third suspect, 20-year-old Andrew Cole, is currently being held in the Linn County Jail on unrelated charges.
