Khayelitsha police and Tracing Unit have yet made another breakthrough in a fight against theft of computers at local schools.

Yesterday 25 year old man was arrested in his house in Site C for burglary and stealing computers worth R250 000 in Vuzamanzi Primary school.

This follows the arrest of another suspect who was arrested last week for computer theft at Isikhokelo Primary school in the area.

It is alleged that the suspect gained entrance at the computer lab in the early hours of yesterday morning by forcing his way through steel mesh glass and burglar proofing on a window.

“Police reacted to the information they received and on their arrival they
seized seventeen tower boxes and another six boxes behind the building, said police spokesperson Captain Anneker Van der Vyver”.

Police noticed the name of the school on the boxes and informed the school principal and it is only then the school noticed that the burglary occurred at the school.

The suspect will soon appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate court on charges of burglary and theft.

Anyone with the information can contact the Investigative officer Detective Constable Ashley Siyaya of the Khayelitsha Detective Services on 021 360 2386.
