Cop Opens Fire On Suspect In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―

A Philadelphia police officer was forced to open fire on a suspect after investigating a computer theft in South Philadelphia.

Officers spotted three men who were carrying black duffel bags around 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning. When the cops approached the men, they dropped the bags and fled on foot.

One of the officers fired at one of the suspects when he reportedly saw him grab a gun from his waistband.

One of the three suspects was stopped by the officers, and taken into custody.

The other two suspects fled on foot and remain on the loose.

Police found two Verizon computers in the recovered duffle bags that were stolen from a Verizon van parked at 20th and Vernon
Streets.

The captured suspect was charged with theft. No one was injured and police continue to investigate the incident.
