Hampton man jailed for computer theft

A 23-year-old Hampton man was arrested Friday after a Johnson City business reported computer equipment had been stolen.

Anthony Alvis, 138 Marlow Lane, Hampton, was charged with theft of property over $1,000.

His arrest resulted from an investigation into a report that a laptop computer and an audio interface had been stolen from a local business, police said in a news release. Police did not specify the business.

Alvis was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Monday.
