Police looking for joy rider who crashed stolen vehicle

Bastrop, La. -

The Bastrop Police Department is looking for information regarding a vehicle which was stolen from Dreher Construction at some point last Friday night and later abandoned after running over the ATM machine at Community Trust Bank on East Madison.


For the second time in less than a month, someone broke into the construction company, this time taking a 2000 Ford F250 black and gold pick-up truck valued at 36,000. The truck was then driven through one of the gates, causing heavy damage.


In the early hours of Saturday morning the BPD received a call regarding the truck being at the ATM machine. Officers arrived to see the vehicle was still running and in gear, but no one was with the vehicle. There was approximately $10,000 worth of damage done to the vehicle.


Earlier this month, the construction company was broken into and two computers valued at $40,000 were taken.


The Police Dept. asks that anyone with information on these or any other crime, call 281.0050 or the Bastrop Police Department at 281.1322.
