Muskegon - A church in Muskegon County broken into not once but twice!
It happened at Westwood Reformed Church, that's on Glenside Boulevard in Roosevelt Park, a small community in Muskegon. The thieves took some computer equipment and some guitars.
Now the church is taking some basic steps of changing the locks and checking to see who has access to key but the biggest change is on the church sign.
The sign out front reads, "Stolen Guitars God Forgives so do We". That's the message the church wanted to send after the break-ins.
The church has been in Roosevelt Park since 1955 and this is the first major trouble they've had. One week ago today some one broke into the church office stole some guitars and computer equipment. Then just yesterday there was another break-in. They took more computers, guitars from the pastors office and this time went into the sanctuary and stole the computer from the sound system.
The church pastor says the church is in the community for a reason and hopes this can lead the person who stole from them to turn his life around.
"I would hope for the opportunity to sit across the table from this person whoever did this. Obviously there was some desperation going on in this persons life that lead them to do this and I would like to talk about that," said Pastor Scott VanArendonk.
VanArendonk says the church is about making connections, serving the neighborhood and growing. The pastor says that's been their mission from the beginning and it doesn't matter if the thieves are caught they will continue to be a part of the Roosevelt Park Community.
