Staff report • news@thenewsstar.com • February 10, 2010

Monroe police arrested two people Monday morning suspected of stealing computers.

Lakesha Arledge, 25, and Monquarius Thomas, 17, both of 912 St. John St., Monroe, were booked into Ouachita Correctional Center. Thomas was booked on illegal possession of stolen property, introduction of contraband into a jail and possession of hydrocodone. Arledge was booked on receiving stolen property.

According to arrest affidavits, police were given information about a burglary on Feb. 1. The victim reported that during the burglary, the suspects took pieces of computer equipment.

The following investigation revealed Thomas and his roommate, Arledge, had sold the equipment to an unnamed woman. Police said both suspects lived about 100 yards from the victim's business.

Arledge told police she did steal the equipment. She said she was paid $50 and Thomas was paid $150. Thomas denied being involved.

While Thomas was being booked, police found a suspected pill of hydrocodone.

Thomas' bond was set at $7,500 and Arledge's bond was set at $5,000.
