VAIL - For the fourth time this school yea, a Vail elementary school has been vandalized.
District officials say students and teachers at Mesquite Elementary School will return from the Thanksgiving holiday to damaged classrooms, stripped of the technology tools they use every day.
On Friday night the school was broken into. The district says 15 projectors were ripped out of their ceiling mounts. Wireless airports, routers, teacher computers and other equipment were stolen.
Officials tell News4, the thieves also broke into the preschool on campus and stole computers and a WII Game Console along with games used for the preschool program.
The District said it hired a security company to watch the school Saturday night. The security guard and his supervisor walked the campus for the last time at 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
The district believes thieves returned after security left and took another 12 projectors, along with more laptops, routers, and airports. And they say again, teacher desks and cabinets were riffled through a damaged.
From one room thieves took personal cochlear hearing aide equipment owned and used daily by a deaf student.
A complete list of lost items will not be compiled until every teacher has returned and had a chance to report items missing from his/her classroom.
The school has an alarm system, but it currently does not cover classrooms.
