Police investigate medical office theft

THOMASTON — Although the Thomaston Police Department described the last week of 2010 as quiet in terms of criminal activity, it is investigating a Dec. 29 theft from a South Main Street medical office, according to Thomaston Police Detective Sgt. James Campbell.

A theft of a laptop computer was reported from within the building,” Campbell said.

The stolen computer was used to operate medical equipment at the office, Campbell added.

Police did not disclose the name of the South Main Street office nor the specific type of medical equipment that the stolen laptop controls.

The heist may have been an inside job, Campbell said.

“There were no signs of burglary at the building,” he said.

It appears that the theft occurred from inside the building, but investigators do not yet know how that occurred, according to police information,

Thomaston Police did not have any suspects as of Jan. 12.
