An audible alarm sounded early today at an Olivehurst school, but a burglar still escaped with a laptop computer valued at $1,100, according to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.
Golden Bear Alarm Systems notified the Sheriff's Department at 1:38 a.m. about the burglary at Olivehurst School, 1778 McGowan Parkway, according to department records.
Deputies arrived about five minutes later and found a box containing 25 CD players belonging to the school outside a classroom window that had been removed, said department spokeswoman Melanie Oakes.
