Man who allegedly stole computer arrested swiftly

A Vancouver police officer was in the right place at the right time early Sunday when he took into custody a man who had allegedly stolen a computer from a government agency minutes earlier.
Ramiro Grijalva, 22, allegedly took a computer at about 2 a.m. Sunday from the Washington Department of Licensing, 1301 N.E. 136th Avenue.
Police officers rushed to the scene when the agency’s alarm sounded, but an officer blocks away was positioned to make the arrest.
Officer Brent Donaldson was checking on a disturbance reported at the AM/PM mini-mart at the intersection of Northeast 112th Avenue and 28th Street. He spotted a man nearby who was dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and walking briskly.
He noted in his incident report that the man “would not look at me directly. It was apparent he was trying to avoid me.”
Donaldson stopped Grijalva, who then pulled a computer out from under his shirt.
“That property was recovered within minutes, basically, of us responding to the burglary,” said Kim Kapp, a spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.
Grijalva, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
On Monday nigh,t Grijalva was in the Clark County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
