Little League computer stolen

YUCCA VALLEY — An unknown burglar stole a computer and its accessories from the Tri-Valley Little League office around 2 a.m. Tuesday, the nonprofit reports.

The suspect or suspects broke into the administrative offices of the Yucca Valley Youth Sports Programs on Little League Drive, breaking a window to get into the building.

Tri-Valley officials called the computer a valuable resource for operating the league.

This computer was bought four years ago to reduce the amount of paper records, improve communication with Little League International and allow the group to track all children, volunteers and sponsors involved in the league.

The information contained in the database was the same information you can obtain by either using the electronic white pages online or a phone book, so there wasn’t any breach of personal information, according to a news release from the organization.

“The shame in this entire episode is that we are a non-profit program that relies upon the community and our volunteers to operate each and every year,” the release read. “To replace the computer becomes something we had not budgeted for and may cause us to run outside of operating costs.”

Staying out of debt is a yearly challenge for the organization.

“Whoever the culprits are in this should be ashamed that they took something from a program like this,” the Little League announcement read.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at (760) 365-9413. If the computer and its accessories are returned, Little League vows not to press charges.
