SANTA CRUZ - Sheriff's deputies recently arrested a man in connection with the Jan. 8 theft of several computers from the nonprofit Aptos agency Community Bridges.
Devin Arlin McKnight, 37, was arrested Sunday night when a Santa Cruz police officer spotted him driving a stolen vehicle at an Ocean Street gas station, police said.
The next day, sheriff's deputies arrested him on suspicion of burglary. That arrest was based on evidence found at the scene, sheriff's Sgt. Dan Campos said. He declined to elaborate.
Community Bridges reported that more than 17 computers valued at roughly $35,000 were stolen.
McKnight pleaded not guilty to the two charges and a preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 14, public defender Jim McMillin said. He remained in County Jail late Wednesday, with bail set at $25,000 for the burglary and $10,000 for auto theft, jail records show. He listed his occupation as a cement worker.
