Thieves take film about jailed former Russian oligarch
Feb 4, 2011, 17:48 GMT
Berlin - Thieves have stolen the final copy of a movie about jailed former Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, police in Berlin said Friday, just before the documentary premieres at the city's film festival.
Someone broke into a Berlin office used by Cyril Tushi, the director of Khodorkovsky.
The production company said two personal computers and two laptop computers were taken. They contained the final version of the all- digital film with German subtitles. The company said the premiere on February 14 would go ahead with a copy lacking German subtitles.
The burglars, who forced doors and vandalized the room, did not take away other valuables. Berlin detectives are investigating.
The company said someone several weeks ago stole a removable hard drive containing parts of the documentary. The disk had been in a hotel room.
Khodorkovsky lost his fortune and was jailed for stealing oil and tax evasion after criticizing the policies of Vladimir Putin, formerly president and now prime minister of Russia.
