ARIZONA COMPUTERS STOLEN http://www.yumasun.com/news/police-68153-school-computers.html

Laptop computers stolen in school burglary

Yuma police say that a thief or thieves broke into O.C. Johnson Elementary School, 1201 W. 12 St., sometime late Thursday night and stole several laptop computers out of classrooms.

According to Officer Leanne Worthen, a spokesperson for the Yuma Police Department, when teachers and staff arrived at school Friday morning, they found that a number of classroom had been vandalized and computers were missing.

“The call originally came in as a burglary to a business with numerous windows broken,” Worthen said.

Worthen said police responded to the scene at about 6 a.m. Once there, officers also found that the windows to several offices had also been broken.

Police don't have any suspects yet, according to Worthen, but the investigation is still ongoing. She did not say how many computers had actually been taken.

Despite crime scene tape hanging at the school when parents arrived to drop off their children, classes were still held as usual.

The police investigation did not impact school for the day.

The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with information about this crime to call (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
