Laptop computers stolen in two home burglaries
METHUEN — Police are investigating breaks into two homes which netted thieves three laptop computers and other property Monday.
Jose Acevedo reported his Lawrence Street apartment had been broken into while he was working as school bus driver. Taken were two Compaq laptop computers and their power cords, and a pearl ring that he had bought for his wife.
Detective Chris Gallant was sent to the scene and took fingerprints from a third laptop that appeared to have been touched, but was left behind.
Charles Darling told police he believed the burglar was still inside his Atkinson Street home and fled out a front basement door when he arrived there about 9:12 p.m.
Darling told police an Apple MacIntosh laptop computer and a Nikon camera with a telephoto lens were stolen.
Both breaks were forwarded to the detective division for further investigation, police said,
