Surveillance footage shows burglar break door, steal computers

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Officers with the Surfside Beach Police Department are searching for an unknown person they say broke the front door of a computer store and stole several items early Thursday morning.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched around 9 a.m. to the Everything Computers store located at 510 N. Highway 17 in Surfside Beach in reference to damage to the front door.

Upon arrival, officers found the glass door to the front of the business broken.

Mike Kaplan with Everything Computers said 10 laptops, two desktop computers, two 21-inch monitors and four digital cameras were stolen from the store during the night.

When officers were about to enter the store, an unknown white male came out of the back of the store. As officers checked the building, they learned an employee was in the building during the night during the break-in, and it was confirmed that employee was allowed to be at the business, according to the police report.

Video surveillance observed an unknown person break the front door with a hammer and enter the business, taking several items from the store.
