Syracuse, NY -- More than $2,000 worth of electronics equipment was stolen from the Fountain of Life Church of God in Christ in Syracuse Wednesday night, said the pastor.
Some time between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday, four computers, three computer screens, three keyboards, one Lexmark printer, a DVD/CD player and device used to convert VHS tapes to DVD were stolen from the church at 700 South Ave., said Pastor Jonathan Stephens.
The electronic equipment was on the second floor of the church, above the sanctuary. It does not look like the thieves forced their way into the building, Stephens said.
The computers are used twice a week for the Youth at Risk of Destruction, or YARD Kids, program which mentors 10 troubled children from Syracuse and teaches them computer skills, Stephens said. The program has been around for eight years and will have to be put on hold until the equipment is found or replaced, Stephens said.
“It happens; it’s something that happens,” Stephens said. “I just don’t want it to end up being someone who is in the program.”
