Thieves stole 40 computers, 12 MacBooks and digital cameras from the computer lab of Unity High School in Daveyton, in Ekurhuleni, the school said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Wandi Mkhubu said ipods, servers and digital video cameras were also stolen in the incident on Tuesday night.
Daveyton police spokesperson Captain Alfred Nakana said the school fence was cut, as were the two security gates to the computer lab.
He said the school security guard claimed to have fallen asleep.
