Students' information stolen from student housing

LAWRENCE - The University of Kansas is investigating the theft of documents from the student housing office last week that contained personal information of current and former student housing residents.

Two computers were stolen as well as a binder containing housing reports. Inside the reports, included names, apartment numbers, birth dates, email addresses, KUID numbers, and even some social security numbers.

University officials say the stolen information was about students living in Stouffer Place Apartments and Sunflower Apartments and that those affected were notified immediately. Officials also say that they are recommending that the students be vigilant in maintaining their accounts, and they should change passwords as need be.

The break in is currently under an active investigation and public safety is still investigating.
