Tracking software leads police to stolen computer
A man faces charges after tracking software led to the recovery of a stolen laptop.
Police allege a 19-year-old student briefly left his laptop unattended at the Bladen Library at the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus around 5:10 p.m. on March 15. When he returned, his laptop was gone.
The student had installed a software program in his laptop that allows him to track it if it got lost or stolen.
As a result of the software, police were able to track down the computer and identify a suspect.
An 18-year-old Markham man is charged with theft and possessing proceeds of crime. He is scheduled to appear in court May 4.
