Computers stolen during break-in at Greater Manchester school

Greater Manchester Police are hunting three men who broke into Stretford High School and stole several computers.

Two of the thieves are believed to have targeted the school while the other acted as a lookout from a car park that leads to nearby Talbot Road.

Two of the offenders broke in from Great Stones Road, smashed a window and stole five Apple iMac computers.

They are described as being three white men wearing hooded tops.

An image of the 'lookout', taken from CCTV, has been released. He is described as being between 18 and 25-years-old, of slim to medium build and about 5ft 8in tall. He was wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

He also had a white scarf wrapped around his face. He may have been talking on a mobile phone or walkie-talkie.

Detectives believe the burglary took place at about 8pm on Saturday 3rd November.

Detective Sergeant Andy Reynolds said: "This incident has not only affected the school, it has also inconvenienced pupils and disrupted their learning.

"I am sure the community will be shocked to hear that criminals have gone to such lengths to steal from a school.

"Since the break-in we have carried out a number of enquiries. CCTV footage has helped us to piece together a sequence of events, but now we are asking for the public's help.

"This incident took place the night of a big bonfire in the area. Perhaps people remember seeing the offenders, or indeed the man standing at the car park gates, whose image we have released."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7657 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
