WATERTOWN —
$10,000 in electronics was reported stolen from the Alzheimer’s Association’s Watertown headquarters over the weekend according to Betsy Fitzgerald-Campbell, vice president of communications for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Fitzgerald-Campbell said the Association realized they had been robbed when they arrived for work on Monday morning and noticed the flat screen TV that had been hanging in their lobby was missing.
“There was just wires hanging from the wall,” Fitzgerald-Campbell said.
In addition to the flat screen TV, the Association also reported that laptops and projectors the Association uses for educational purposes, as well as digital cameras had also been stolen, Fitzgerald-Campbell said.
None of the computers contained confidential information, and it appeared the break in was limited to the public area of the office.
Fitzgerald-Campbell said the Watertown Police were called first thing Monday morning and looked over the office. The Watertown Police have not responded to calls for comment.
“We actually the yellow crime tape over all of our meeting rooms,” Fitzgerald-Campbell said.
While all of the items that were reported stolen were insured, the timing of the robbery was inconvenient because the Association has several fundraising walks coming up that they were in the process of planning for, Fitzgerald-Campbell said.
“It’s just unsettling for our staff, and there’s a time laps as we replace all of these things,” Fitzgerald-Campbell said. “So it’s just something we would rather not have been going through right now.”
