For thieves, it probably looked like just an opportunity to get some extra cash.
But for a mother of a deceased son, the computer stolen from a Port Coquitlam storage locker at an apartment contained photos that were priceless.
Coquitlam Mounties said thieves broke into a storage locker on Nov. 1 at an apartment building in the 1600 block of Grant Avenue, taking a number of items including a computer. The computer’s hard drive contained the only photographs of the victim’s deceased son.
Now police are appealing to the thieves to return the computer to its owner.
“The computer may not be worth a lot to the thieves, but it means the whole world to the distraught mom,” RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung said in a statement. “The computer’s hard drive contains photographs of her son, who had passed away. For her, those pictures have a lifetime of happy memories of her son. We hope whoever has it will find it in their hearts to return the computer to the mother.”
Anyone with information related to the break-in is urged to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2013-32676.
