Primary school students deprived of two computers after theft

PETALING JAYA: Students of a primary school at Bandar Country Homes, Rawang was deprived of two computers after thieves made off with the items last week.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahim Abdullah said 46-year-old teacher Zairani Omar alerted police of the missing loot, which included RM393 worth of money, at 9.50am Monday.
“Zairani entered the Special Education Department at 6.50am and noticed a computer missing from one of the tables in the office,” he explained on Tuesday.
ACP Rahim added that upon entering the Senior Assistant’s office, Zairani noticed that another set of computer was missing from its usual spot.
“A collection of student money, placed in an envelope in a drawer for safekeeping, was also gone,” he added.
Initial investigations revealed that there were signs of forced entry on the window as well as the rear door.
ACP Rahim said that there were no closed-circuit television at the scene to record the incident and no fingerprints were found at the scene as well.
“It would be a challenge to track down the culprits, but we will do our best to ensure that they be brought to justice,” said the district police chief.
He added that losses from the theft amounted to RM4,000 and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for break-in and theft.
